UCAT Score & Percentile Calculator: Find Your Decile Instantly

The UCAT has no fixed pass mark โ€” your score only matters relative to everyone else who sat the test. Enter your Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning scaled scores below to see your total, decile and percentile instantly.

Last updated August 2026 ยท Based on the official published 2025 UCAT decile table

Based on the official 2025 UCAT decile table (mean total 1891, scored out of 2700 across Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning). Deciles are republished after each sitting, so treat this as a close estimate rather than your exact 2026 ranking. SJT is banded separately and not included in this total.

How UCAT Scores Are Calculated

Raw marks from each cognitive section are converted to a scale of 300โ€“900 using a statistical equating process. The three cognitive sections (VR, DM, QR) are summed to give a total of 900โ€“2700. SJT is not included in this total.

Frequently asked questions

What is the average UCAT score in 2026?โ†“

In the 2025 UCAT cycle (scored out of 2700 across Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning), the mean total score was 1891 across 41,354 candidates. Scoring above roughly 1880 puts you above the median.

How are UCAT deciles calculated?โ†“

After each exam sitting, all candidate scores are ranked and divided into 10 equal-sized groups. Decile 10 is the top 10% of candidates, decile 1 is the bottom 10%. The UCAT consortium publishes the decile thresholds after results are released each year โ€” they shift slightly cohort to cohort.

Does the SJT band count towards my total UCAT score?โ†“

No. The SJT band (1โ€“4) is reported separately and never added to the 900โ€“2700 cognitive total. Many medical schools use the SJT band as an independent filter โ€” a Band 4 can disqualify an otherwise high scorer.

What score do I need for UK medical schools?โ†“

Thresholds vary by school and shift yearly, but as a rough guide: decile 9-10 (roughly 2100+) is competitive for the most score-focused schools; decile 7-8 (around 2010-2100) is competitive at most UK medical schools; decile 5-6 (1880-2010) is borderline and worth pairing with a strong SJT band.

What is a good UCAT score?โ†“

Any score above the mean (1891 in 2025) is technically above average, but 'good' in practice means competitive for your target universities. Scoring 2010+ (roughly decile 7 and above) is a solid benchmark for most UK medical and dental schools; 2100+ opens up the most score-sensitive courses.

What is the maximum possible UCAT score?โ†“

2700 is the maximum cognitive total โ€” 900 (the maximum scaled score) in each of the three sections: Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning. In practice, scores above 2500 are extremely rare; the 2025 top decile threshold was 2220.

How do I convert my UCAT score to a percentile?โ†“

Your percentile shows what proportion of that year's candidates you scored higher than. It isn't a fixed formula โ€” it's calculated from that specific sitting's full result distribution once every candidate has sat the test, then published by the UCAT consortium alongside the decile table. Use the calculator above to see where your score lands against the most recent published distribution.

Track your real score, not just a one-off calculation

Applaa tracks your practice scores across every mock and estimates your current percentile in real time, so you always know which sections need the most work before exam day.
