6 2 Snowy tree crickets are insects that live in various states of the USA. Male snowy tree crickets make a noise called a chirp by rubbing their wings together. Thomas made a study of snowy tree crickets living in the wild in California. When he encountered a snowy tree cricket, he recorded the rate of the cricket’s chirp (X chirps per minute) and the air temperature (Y °C). His results are shown in Figure 3.
